A person sitting on a bedDescription generated with high confidenceTop 10 List of Most and Least Stressed Out Cities in the USA

The good news is our city didn’t make the list of most stressed out cities. The bad news is, we aren’t listed as one of the lease stressed out cities either.

The article below is about financial stress. Well guess what we have learned from the corporate wellness movement, financial stress is directly tied to every bodily function of overall health that we can measure.

Stress is never the situation we are in. That is hard to swallow, but true. Stress is our body’s reaction to the situation we have put ourselves into. The best way to deal with stress is to make our bodies resilient to the stressor. I have read hundreds of articles on stress and how we can manage it. The list below is in order of importance, to improve your health and managing your stress.

  1. Sleep – Going to sleep and waking up at the same time every day sets your circadian rhythm. It is the base line of all chemical reactions in your body. This includes, but is not limited to digestion, hormone function, immune system, reaction time, memory, mental health, and critical thinking.
  2. Diet – Garbage in, garbage out. If you feed yourself poorly, there is no energy reserve to protect you against stress. The healthiest, and least stressed people in the world, eat a Mediterranean Diet. Your smart phone will fill you in on the details. Google that and follow it closely.
  3. Exercise – In the middle of winter, even on the coldest days, I bundled up my kids and went outside with them to play. The mantra was “got to get outside and blow off the stink”. No matter how you get your heart rate up, you can call it exercise. Movement is life, movement is health, movement helps to burn off all the stress-chemicals. Your body builds toxic reactions to stress from sitting around, worrying, and reacting to the pressures of life. Get up and move around to blow off your stink.

We are all in a different place on our health journey. Find your weakest area, address it, and continue your trip to being healthier.

Stay Healthy My Friends,
